Ignorance from the biblical point of view

Ignorance is the state of been unaware or lack of knowledge. When someone is ignorant of something, it is assumed that he have no knowledge, training or information on that particular thing. A man from an electrical field can be knowledgeable in electrical field but ignorant in the medical field. Ignorance is a transitive verb i.e it requires an object. This means a man can be ignorant of something and not everything.

The bible have taken its stand on the subject matter in Hosea 4:6 "my people perish due to ignorance". No man will fully understand this subject matter until he recognize what ignorance have done to his life. King Solomon did recognize this and asked for wisdom instead of wealth or riches, 2chronicles 1:10-11.

When St. Paul was addressing the corinthians he said to them, "know ye not that your body is the temple of the Lord", 1 corinthians 6:19. He used the phrase "know ye not" because he had recognized they were ignorant.

Ignorance should not be underestimated. Many kings die a slave, professors die an ordinary teacher, powerful men of God die in endless struggles because they are ignorant Of themselves. The bible said in psalm 82:5-7 "They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes."

Consequences of ignorance.

1. Captivity: "Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst." Isaiah 5:13.

2. Destruction and rejection: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." hosea 4:6.

Remedy for ignorance.

The only cure/remedy to ignorance is REVELATION. David said in psalm 119, open my eyes that i may know your laws oh lord. Which means it only comes by revelation. The book of ephesians 1:17 supports this fact.
