Mariah Carey: It’s ‘Difficult to Talk About’ James Packer Split

On to the next chapter. Mariah Carey briefly spoke about her split from fiancé James Packer during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday.

“You had a highly publicized relationship and you were engaged and you were trying on wedding dresses in [your] docuseries — we see the behind the scenes of that, which is pretty personal. And now you’re not together anymore,” DeGeneres, 58, said.

“Now it’s a whole friggin’ thing,” Carey interjected. Asked how she’s feeling “mentally” and whether she’s “happy,” Carey replied, “I think I’m doing well… Everything happens for a reason. Things are the way they are.”
