Krispy Kreme employee arrested after heated argument over doughnuts leads to stabbing

A Krispy Kreme employee in Gainesville, Florida, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder on Thursday after police say he stabbed the boyfriend of a co-worker over a disagreement about how doughnuts should be made.

Julius Irving, 32, had a heated argument with a fellow Krispy Kreme employee on Wednesday night about how she was preparing the franchise’s doughnuts. According to a press release from the Gainesville Police Department, the female co-worker called her boyfriend to pick her up from the store. When he arrived, he confronted Irving about the argument. During the confrontation, which turned physical, Irving grabbed a 4-inch knife and stabbed the victim several times, leaving wounds to his upper torso, stomach and thigh, the police said.

The victim was transported to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Doctors credit the responding officers with saving the victim’s life by applying a tourniquet to his leg wound, police said.

Irving, who is being held without bond at Alachua County Jail, was found nearby and confessed to the stabbing during an interview with police.

Krispy Kreme released the following statement on Thursday, “The safety of our guests and team members is our top priority. Our independently owned and operated franchisee is cooperating with law enforcement. We are keeping the victim in our thoughts and prayers. The suspect no longer works for this franchisee.”
