You won't see a player make a special effort to toss haymakers at an adversary, however Javon Wims was searching for a battle.
When the residue settled, the Chicago Bears wide recipient ended up strolling off of Soldier Field right off the bat Sunday evening.
Javon Wims tosses two punches at C.J. Gardner-Johnson
Wims discovered New Orleans Saints cautious back C.J. Gardner-Johnson and tossed two gigantic punches to Gardner-Johnson's head halfway through the second from last quarter of their matchup in Chicago on Sunday.
It created the impression that Wims was backing up Bears partner Anthony Miller, who had recently gotten into it with Gardner-Johnson.
This is perhaps the least demanding launch any NFL authority will have.
Bears mentor Matt Nagy, however he missed the start of the episode himself, was furious.
"I didn't see it. I completely missed it. What I heard is what it resembled, which is totally inadmissible," Nagy said after the game, through The Athletic's Mark Lazerus. "We've conversed with him and revealed to him that that is not how things go here. ... There's no spot in our game for that."
Wims was supporting his partner, and Nagy said he was sorry after the game. That makes it somewhat more acceptable.
In any case, Wims merited the launch and needed to realize it was coming. The third-year beneficiary — who has only five gets for 35 yards and one score this season — could confront a powerful fine and a suspension, as well.
In any event he got his cash's worth with his two punches. The Saints won, 26-23, in additional time.
