Previous President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the calls for withdrawal may prompt killing of minority bunches in the country.
The previous President said this while getting the Tiv Professional Group (TPG) from Benue State, who paid him a politeness visit in Abeokuta on Wednesday May 5.
Relating how a Military companion revealed to him that significant clans in the nation are narrow minded and not adequately focusing on the minority gatherings, Obasanjo said he lined up with his companion's assessment and furthermore communicated stress over what will happen to these minority clans if significant clans choose to withdraw and start to work as separate nations.
He said;
"On the off chance that the Yoruba can remain as a country, if the Igbos and the Hausa/Fulani can remain as separate nations, where do we need the minority gatherings to be?
"Presently, by excellence of the current circumstance, they are somewhat ensured, yet in the event that Nigeria separates, they will be abused and eradicated."
Additionally reviewing his gatherings with various socio-social associations in September 2020, Obasanjo noticed that no one at such gatherings discussed crumbling or separation. He said "all they clamored for was a change for great."
