EFCC: Court adjourns Naira Marleys trial for 85 days

 Equity Nicholas Oweibo of a Federal High Court in Lagos today July 12 dismissed till October 5 (85 days) to proceed with the supposed web misrepresentation preliminary of Afeez Adeshina Fashola, prominently known as Naira Marley. 



Naira Marley is being investigated on a 11-tally charge verging on supposed tax evasion and web misrepresentation liked against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was summoned on May 20, 2019, argued not blameworthy and is temporarily free from jail. 


In the charge, the EFCC claimed, among others, that a portion of the Visas found in Marley's home bore the imaginary names Nicole Louise Malyon and Timea Fedorne Tatar. The antigraft office charges the things were utilized in assistance of web tricks. The commission said the offenses negated the Money Laundering (Prohibition) and the Cyber Crimes Acts. 


Since the initiation of his preliminary, the arraignment has called two observers, Nuru Buhari Dalhatu and Augustine Anosike, both EFCC criminological specialists. 


At the resumption of procedures today, direction to the EFCC, Bilkisu Buhari, educated the appointed authority that the matter was scheduled for interrogation of the subsequent arraignment witness, Anosike. She supplicated the court to welcome the observer for the continuation of the consultation.

Allowing his supplication, Justice Oweibo deferred the case till October 5, 6 and 7 for continuation of preliminary. The long dismissal is taking into account the court's yearly get-away, which starts on July 26 and closures on September 17 (53 days).
