Court of Appeal stops Rivers and Lagos from collecting VAT

A Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has halted the legislatures of Rivers and Lagos from gathering Value Added Taxes (VAT), forthcoming the assurance of an allure recorded by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The investigative court which said the request was to protect the 'Res' (topic) of the allure before it, provided the request on Friday September 10.

This came after Attorney-General of Lagos state, Moyosore Onigbanjo educated the court regarding an application for the Lagos state government to be joined as a co-respondent in the allure recorded by FIRS.

The three-part board of judges of the investigative court drove by Haruna Tsammani asked parties associated with the case to abstain from making a move, following a judgment by a high court which gave Rivers state government the right to gather VAT rather than the FIRS.
