21-year-old man remanded in prison for setting BRT ablaze during EndSARs protest

A jobless 21-year-old Michael Chinaza, has been remanded in jail by an Ikeja Magistrate's Court for purportedly setting burning a BRT transport terminal at Oyingbo in Lagos during a dissent in October 2020.



Nigerian adolescents turned out in their numbers the nation over to challenge police fierceness. The dissent was anyway commandeered by hooligans who did wanton annihilation of properties.


Chinasa who is supposed to be an indigene of Anambra State, lives at 21, Ilogbo Street, Apapa Road, Lagos.


He is being pursued for trick, illegal conflagration, and causing a break of harmony.


On Thursday, August 11, the Magistrate, Mrs M.C. Ayinde wouldn't take the litigant's request, and requested that he ought to be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Center until September 1, forthcoming legitimate guidance.


The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Segun Oke, let the court know that the offenses were committed in October 2020 at the Oyingbo BRT transport terminal, Lagos. Oke said that Michael and others at large set the BRT transport terminal ablaze during the EndSARS fight.


The offenses, he said, repudiated the arrangements of Sections 168, 343 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
