Lukashenko says - Do not push nuclear armed Russia into a corner

(Reuters) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko cautioned Ukraine and the West on Friday not to drive his partner Russia into a corner, saying Moscow had atomic weapons on purpose.

In concentrates of a meeting with the American Television slot NBC delivered by Belarus' state news organization, Lukashenko said: "The main thing is, don't drive your conversationalist and, surprisingly, your rival into a corner. So you mustn't cross those lines - those red lines, as the Russians say. You can't cross them."

Concern has mounted in the West that Russian President Vladimir Putin might turn to atomic weapons since a progression of losses for his powers in Ukraine swung the energy of the conflict in support of Kyiv.

"With respect to atomic weapons, any weapon is a weapon made for something," Lukashenko was cited as saying.

"Russia has obviously illustrated its situation: God disallow there will be an assault an on the area of the Russian Organization; in that occasion, Russia can utilize a wide range of weapons if vital."

Lukashenko has nothing to do with Putin's tactical choices yet his remarks underlined the uplifted province of East-West pressure as the conflict approaches the finish of its eighth month.

Psychological warfare ALERT

Putin singularly declared four Ukrainian districts as a feature of Russia last month, a move predominantly censured for the current week by the U.N. General Get together, and has said he will guard Russia's "regional honesty" definitely, including atomic weapons if vital.

Lukashenko said independently he had set Belarus in what he called a condition of elevated psychological oppression alert due to pressures on its boundaries.

He connected that transition to his declaration on Monday that he had requested Belarusian soldiers to convey with Russian powers close to Belarus' southern boundary with Ukraine. The Belarusian guard service said the "Russian part of the Provincial Gathering of Powers" would begin showing up in Belarus in the following couple of days.
